Bookkeeper
The opportunity:
We are currently recruiting for an experienced full-time Bookkeeper to join our growing team, offering a competitive salary based on experience.
The position involves providing an excellent and high-quality level of bookkeeping services to a dedicated portfolio of clients.
You’ll need to be pro-active, be able to maintain clear communication and have a client-focussed mind to establish our client’s wants and needs. With your experience in a similar role, you will manage all the bookkeeping activities for your client portfolio, including day-to-day bookkeeping and VAT return preparation.
Main responsibilities:
- Maintaining and building strong relationships with your own client portfolio
- Liaising with clients to obtain relevant information
- Bookkeeping to trial balance using desktop and cloud-based software
- Preparation and filing of VAT returns based on information supplied by client
- Ensure compliance with all VAT matters
- Preparation and filing of CIS returns based on information supplied by client
- Preparing management accounts for a range of clients, monthly or quarterly as required
- Assist clients with accounting software and other book-keeping queries as required
- Assist clients and internal staff with installation of cloud-based accounting systems
- Attend relevant training courses and develop your skills to ensure up to date knowledge and best practice
- Ad hoc duties as requested by management
- General administration
Experience required:
Essential:
- Minimum of 4 years bookkeeping experience
Desirable:
- Experience in a freelance or practice environment
- Experience preparing management accounts
- Experience of in-house systems such as Sage, Xero accounts systems and Dext
- Knowledge of CIS & VAT Reverse charge would be advantageous

Trainee Accountant
The opportunity:
We are currently recruiting for a Trainee Accountant to join our growing team, offering a competitive salary.
You will learn the fundamentals of accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, taxation plus ad-hoc project work whilst studying towards your professional qualification.
The position would suit a school leaver who is looking to start their accountancy career, or a current AAT trainee who is looking for a new role within practice. Full training and study support would be provided towards the AAT qualification, with further opportunities in the future for the right candidate to study towards ACCA.
Alongside training and development, some of your responsibilities will include:
- Processing of client records using a range of software, E.g. Dext, Xero, Sage
- Bank reconciliations
- Assist with the preparation and filing of VAT & CIS returns
- Assisting with accounts preparation
- Attend relevant training courses
- General administrative duties
Key skills & experience:
- Be an excellent team player as well being able to work independently
- Studying or looking to start studying towards an AAT professional qualification
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritise work effectively and efficiently
- Excellent organisation and administrative skills
- Fully computer literate, including excellent Microsoft Office skills
